PROJECTS
FUNDED IN 2019
 
  The following has been put together by the CRC archive person Nayra Younges. Her responsibility is to track the projects from previous years and put together a short summary of the previous year’s projects that have to hand in completed summary reports. Some of the projects from 2019 have been given extensions due to corvid 19 virus that prevented the projects from being completed.

    Zambia  
    The UNWG grant was used to build a workshop for tailoring, knitting and adult literacy training within the grounds of The Kaliyangile Training Centre in Zambia, which will equip girls and young women with key skills to help them finance their futures and build their self-esteem and confidence.

    ASIA    
           
    BANGLADESH -Center for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP), a programme of the Trust for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed.  
    UNWG grant was used to strengthen and extend CRP facilities in its Barisal Centre to be able to provide therapy to an increasing number of pediatric patients. The pictures below show some of the equipment purchased for the Barisal Centre:

    SRI LANKA - SIPSARU  
    SIPSARU is concerned with improving school conditions to create better learning and teaching conditions for the school community. They applied for a UNWG grant to renovate a multipurpose shed and construct sanitary facilities at the Dehigastenna Vidyalaya School , Ginigathena.

    KYRGYZSTAN – Helping is Easy  
    Project “Right for education for children in hospitals” aimed to facilitate education for children that require long term treatment in hospitals. The grant was used to buy an interactive board, desks and chairs for the National Oncology Center in Bishkek.

    AUSTRIA - Sterntalerhof  
    Sterntalerhof is an Austrian organization caring for seriously ill children, children with chronic diseases or terminally ill children and their families. The UNWG grant was used to complement the therapeutic-pedagogic infrastructure of the organization’s home in Loipersdorf-Kitzladen

    ESTONIA – Eriline-Maailm MTU, A Different World  
    A music therapy class and sensory room was set up for children with special needs.

    ARGENTINA – FUNDACION SIERRA DORADA
 
    “Hydrated Child Healthy Child” was a project to install an underground cistern with a pump to secure continuous water supply for the children’s home in Salsipuedes, especially during the summer season.
 
    Argentina 2019  
       
    MEXICO – FUNDACION INFANTIL RONALD MCDONALD  
    The Ronald McDonald House in Puebla provides free room and board services to children up to the age of eighteen, who come from the interior of the country to receive specialized medical treatment not available in their places of residence. The UNWG grant went towards the installation of solar heaters in the Ronald McDonald House of Puebla to make sure that the children have hot water throughout the year and at the same time protecting the environment.

LEBANON – Hilfswerk International

 
    Hilfswerk International is an Austrian organization supporting projects in different parts of the world. Its cooperation with UNWG started already in 2003.  The project in Lebanon aims to provide easily accessible health services to women and children living in informal settlements in the Bekaa Valley. UNWG grant was utilized to purchase an ultrasound machine for the health clinic of Hawsh al Harimi.

    CAMBODIA – FRIENDS INTERNATIONAL-Kaliyan Mith  
    An organization recommended by UNICEF with the objective of providing best practice child protection services and support to marginalized children, youth and their families in different parts of Cambodia.  The UNWG grant was used towards purchasing kitchen furniture and appliances, sports equipment, books and library materials, setting up a vegetable patch and renovating some sanitary structures in the organization’s transitional home in Siem Reap.
